Diurnal Variations of Osteoblastic Activities of Vertebrae and Femurs from Normal Adult Male Albino Mouse

Abstract
The diurnal variations of the osteoblastic activities of the vertebrae and the femurs from a sum of 20 normal adult albino mice were observed by means of an autoradiography and tritiated thymidine. The animals were divided into four groups, such as, morning, noon, evening and mid-night groups. Each mouse was recieved a dose of 0.8 uc(per grm. of body weight) of H3-thymidine, intravenously. The 3 u section autoradiograms were compared. The highest mitotic activity(radioactive index) of the osteoblast was observed in the noon group, whereas, the lowest was the evening group in the vertebrae, and the lowest value from the noon group was contrasted with the highest of the mid-night group in the femur.
